Guest Blog by Kelly, 100 Pound Loser

Hi, my name is Kelly and I am a fat girl. . Well, I'm not fat anymore, I've lost 100 pounds but I can still say that because once a fat girl always a fat girl at heart! I love to eat, and I love to eat large quantities! In 2008 my husband took a photo of me from behind sitting at the kitchen table playing a game with our two boys. When I saw the photo I was devastated! My ass was hanging over the side of the seat and my back looked like a football player it was so broad! For some reason when I looked in the mirror every day I didn't see how fat I was! But seeing it from behind was another story! I weighed 231.5 pounds. I was a size 18 needing to go into a 20 and wore a size 40D bra! From … [Read more...]

Spanx You Very Much!

Yesterday I had a funny post on the facebook page for this blog. Kari said  "So, I've decided that getting into Spanx right after a shower should count towards my daily workout. :)" It got me thinking about some of the Spanx incidents in my life. After I had my first C-section and had to go back to work every day, I purchased some high waisted granny-panty control-type thingies. I wore them every day over my underwear. Then one day I stopped wearing them. I live in Florida. I was in sales, and it's really fucking hot to wear a non-breathable nylon tourniquet thingy. Plus, they started to roll down and I would be pulling up these things all the time. Since I became heavy, I stopped … [Read more...]

Well-Meaning Family and Friends

They love you. They care about you. They want you to be happy. They want you to be healthy. So they remind you all the time how big you are and ways you can change it. Or they tell you what to eat, or scold you when you eat. Or they hear about a new diet and call to tell you about it....daily. Or they just say something stupid, like "why don't you just eat less". My parents are AWESOME. They have been great parents my whole life. But they are perfect. My sisters are perfect too. Then there is me. I don't fit into the perfect mold. They don't get it. How come I'm not a size 6? What did they do wrong? THEY exercised and kept active their whole life. They watch what they eat (well, actually, … [Read more...]

My Hair Is My Shield

If anyone ever asked what my favorite feature is about myself, I would have to say it's my hair. Until yesterday, I had VERY long hair for a mom, very similar to the photo above. Almost waist length. It is my shield. I hide behind my hair, hoping people notice my hair first instead of my weight. I never wear it up, NEVER- unless I'm working out (haha, rarely) or sleeping. I also felt that without all that hair, my head would be too small for my body. But it was getting to the point that my hair was actually drawing the eye downward to my belly and hips....a place I certainly don't want eyes! And it was getting too flat on top because of all the weight, effectively making the small head … [Read more...]
