I fucking hate shopping for clothes, though I still do it way too often. I have to get a new outfit every time I go away. Something new to wear makes me feel a little better about myself. The problem? There are so few places to go and try stuff on for plus sized girls.
We have Macy’s plus, which is OK if you can dig through the old lady clothes and the way-too young for me clothes. We have one Lane Bryant around here, but they are out of 18s in almost everything all the time. We had 2 Avenues, but one closed, leaving the crappy one with really nasty salespeople. Target has some cute stuff once in a while.
That’s it. There is no other place within 30 minutes to shop for cute plus-sized clothes. These stores are in 3 totally opposite directions. So it’s not like I can just go to the mall and pick stuff out. I have to drive around town to hit the stores that have very little to choose from.
There are a ton of places to shop online. But I know myself, I’m not a returner. So if I order something online that doesn’t fit, it will go in the back of my closet in a ball never to be heard from again.
This weekend, I’m going away with my perfect, gorgeous, skinny, mom and sisters. I have nothing to wear because I am at my fattest ever and everything looks gross on me. I need to run out RIGHT NOW to shop, but I’m procrastinating, because I don’t feel like spiraling into a depression because I can’t find anything.
But I have to. Wish me luck!

My favorite fat store was Fashion Bug. Literally 3/4 of my closet came from there. Clothes, bras underwear, even shoes! They closes their doors at the end of last year and I haven’t bought any clothes since! I’ve had a few friends recommend me to a few stores (don’t know if they’re regional, but Catherine’s, Loft and even Lane Bryant). But I was comfortable at Fashion Bug. I’m SO bummed! Have a semi-formal dinner event on 4/19 that I need to buy a dress for. I hate plus size dresses bc I always feel like a house! Clothes shopping is SO not fun when you don’t feel good about yourself!

I loved Fashion Bug too. They closed the nearby store years ago, but I drove 45 minutes to it when I needed it. Now, sadly they are all gone 🙁

My trip to Target was also a total failure. Ugh.

I really like Dress Barn and CJ Banks. Dilliard’s usually has some pretty good stuff but I usually only purchase there for really important stuff. I bought a Christmas party outfit there 2 years ago that got steller raves from everyone! My hubby LOVED it.

We don’t have any of those nearby anymore 🙁

Sweetie, look at SimplyBe.com when you get a chance. They have cute plus size clothes that are designed to fit our size bodies. They come from England, so it takes a bit to get them here, but I have purchased some of the cutest things in my wardrobe from them — I get compliments whenever I wear their clothes. Also, Coldwater Creek has some cute things, too. Are there any T. J. Maxx or Marshall’s stores where you live? Ann Taylor? Christopher and Banks? All have good options for beautiful women who are not size 2. But before you go shopping anywhere, take a good look at that lovely girl who lives in your body, and Love. Her. Don’t wait another minute of your life hating your body. Good luck!

Thank you. I wish I could get there. I don’t want to be skinny. I am very happy as a size 14. But now? Not so much 🙁

I love LB, but hate their prices…we have an LB outlet that I will hit up. Target’s plus size section has greatly diminished and their jeans/shorts never fit me well anyway. I was also sad FB closed. Sometimes I can find things at Avenue, but a lot of their clothes look like old ladies stuff. Im fat, not 80! Try Old Navy online too.
